American Express is to open its first Centurion Lounge in Europe post-security at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 3 sometime in 2019.

The lounge will be the company’s 13th across the globe and second outside of the US – the other being at Hong Kong International Airport.

The new 7,000 square foot lounge will offer a range of facilities such as complimentary food and beverage from top chefs and mixologists, showers, access to high speed wi-fi and private noise-buffering work stations and the lounge will feature specially curated amenities influenced by British hospitality, culture and style.

American Express senior vice president of global loyalty and benefits, Chris Cracchiolo said: “Both in business and their personal lives, our Premium Cardmembers are living more globally, and we are committed to meeting their needs wherever they go.

“London has long been a top city our Platinum and Centurion Cardmembers travel through, so it made perfect sense to open our first Centurion Lounge in Europe and second location outside of the US, to Heathrow. We look forward to welcoming Cardmembers to our new Centurion Lounge location in Heathrow next year.”

American Express is also expanding the Centurion Lounge brand in the US and will open them at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, Denver International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport in 2019.

These add to lounges at New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Las Vegas’ McCarran International Airport, Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, San Francisco International Airport, Miami International Airport, Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, Houston’s George Bush International Airport and Philadelphia International Airport.
