Japan Airlines (JAL) new new medium to long-haul low-cost carrier (LCC) unit Zipair Tokyo has revealed the livery that its Boeing 787-8s will wear when it starts operations in the summer of 2020.

The planned initial route network is to fly from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport and from Narita to Seoul-Incheon International Airport, and it also plans to launch flights to the US west coast eventually. Zipair will initially take two 787-8s from JAL.

JAL said Zipair Tokyo is coined word derived from the English word ZIP, which describes speed, such as how fast time can pass when traveling on a unique airline.

In addition, the brand name incorporates the idea of traveling to destinations in various ZIP CODES, while aiming to create a calculated travel experience that encompasses the originality and ingenuity of the Japanese culture. And finally, the word Tokyo was added to the name, due to the airline being based in the metropolis.
