The first Boeing 737-800NG aircraft was delivered yesterday to new Canadian low-cost carrier Swoop, which is set to launch operations on 20 June this year.
This is the first of six Boeing 737-800NG aircraft to be delivered to the ‘ultra’ low-cost carrier this year. It will start with routes in Canada including Winnipeg, Halifax and Edmonton.
Swoop president and chief executive officer, Steven Greenway said: “The delivery of our first aircraft is yet another exciting milestone as we begin the final countdown to Swoop’s operational launch.
“The phenomenal team at Swoop has been working tirelessly towards our first flights and everything is “GO” for Swoop to take to the skies on 20 June.”
Swoop has named their first aircraft #Hamilton as a nod to their first airport base at John C. Munro International Airport in Hamilton, Ontario.
