Southwest passenger traffic on the rise

US carrier Southwest Airlines flew 12.6 billion revenue passenger miles (RPM) in July – an increase on the 12.4 billion RPM in the same month last year.

Available seat miles (ASMs) increased 3.2 per cent to 14.6 billion in July 2018, compared with July 2017 ASMs of 14.2 billion. The July 2018 load factor fell by one percentage point to 86.3 per cent, compared with 87.3 per cent in July 2017.

So far this year, Southwest Airlines’ RPMs are up 4.4 per cent to 78.7 billion, while ASMs are up 2.7 per cent to 93.4 billion and the load factor is up 0.1 percentage points to 83.7 per cent, compared to the same seven months in 2017.
