Garuda Indonesia is to call time on a thrice-weekly direct Boeing 777 Heathrow Airport to Jakarta route on 28 October as it is restructuring the service.
The airline from the end of next month, passengers wanting to fly to the UK from the Indonesia capital or vice versa need to connect via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol before using one of its SkyTeam Alliance partners to get to the UK.
Gaurda operate a six times a week route between Jakarta and Amsterdam. The airline will reportedly use the Boeing 777 instead on Jakarta-Tokyo Haneda, as well as Bali-Melbourne routes.
In a statement the airline said: “The termination of our London route is one of our several internal adjustments to optimise our International flights network in 2019 and enhance our Jakarta-Amsterdam route.
Nevertheless, we will continue to fly to The United Kingdom via our main hub at Netherlands Amsterdam Schiphol Airport with all our partners especially Sky Team Alliance airlines.”
