XL Airways which had been forced to halt operations could have a reprieve as there have been reports by French media outlets stating that former Aigle Azur shareholder Lu Azur is offering a €30 million injection to XL Airways.

The airline had been forced to halt operations on 30 September and originally stated that the suspension would continue until 3 October.

Lu Azur, previously a 20% shareholder of Aigle Azur, plans to rescue XL Airways by taking on approximately half of XL Airlines existing staff, along with two of its four-strong Airbus A330 fleet.

XL Airways operates out of Paris Charles de Gaulle and other French cities, concentrating its operations on US and Caribbean destinations.
