Air Europa has expanded its route network into South America after adding a new service to Fortaleza, in north east Brazil.

The service will begin on 20 December 2019 from the airline’s hub at Madrid’s Barajas International Airport with twice weekly flights, which will then increase to three flights a week from June 2020.

Fortaleza is the airline’s fourth destination in Brazil, as it already operates routes to Salvador de Bahia, Sao Paulo and Recife.

Air Europa will utilise an Airbus A330-200, with a seat capacity of 299 passengers on the sector.

Fortaleza is an important industrial and commercial centre and the city ranks fourth in Brazil for tourists received. The new route will mean Air Europa now flies to 24 destinations in the Americas, from Europe, as it continues to grow its route network into the continent.
