Charter airline Airseven is set to commence flights between Aalborg in Denmark and Nuuk in Greenland for the 2025 summer season.

The first flight is scheduled to take off on 12 June and will connect the two cities twice weekly until 1 September, operated by the airline’s Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

The Danish carrier has partnered with travel agency Ruby Rejser to introduce the new route.

Morten Meyer, Ruby Rejser’s bureau manager, highlighted how Greenland has traditionally been a challenging destination due to its high transport costs and complex logistics.

These difficulties make Greenland a less lucrative option for potential visitors – something the companies hope to change with the new connection.

Passengers from Aalborg and the surrounding area would typically have to fly to Copenhagen to transfer to an Air Greenland flight.

The launch of the route also takes advantage of the new expanded Nuuk Airport which is expected to open its doors to jetliners in late 2024.

Besides a more streamlined journey, passengers heading to Nuuk will also benefit from a lower cost.

Airseven hopes that this initiative will help drive the aviation industry’s trend of improving connectivity to more remote and less accessible destinations.

The route will also play a part in contributing to the growth of tourism in Greenland, a land which possesses an array of natural sights from fjords to glaciers and Arctic wildlife.

Airseven operates a fleet of three Boeing 737-800s and fly in collaboration with Copenhagen AirTaxi.

The airline mainly serves holiday charter flights for a number of tour operators as well as ad-hoc charter operations.
