As American prepares to hit the century mark, the airline has reached a milestone, receiving its 1,000th mainline aircraft.
The premium Boeing 787-9 aircraft with American’s recently launched Flagship Suite seats arrived at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) on 29 August.
Since April, American has received eight premium Boeing 787-9 aircraft and has a total of 30 on order.
The aircraft currently operates on Chicago to London Heathrow, ORD to Los Angeles and Philadelphia to LHR routes.
Heather Garboden, American’s chief customer officer, said: “We are excited to grow our fleet, adding even more aircraft that offer customers a premium travel experience.
“Looking forward to our next 100 years, we are focused on elevating and reimagining the onboard cabin experience along with every aspect of the customer travel journey.”
With the addition of more premium Boeing 787-9s to its fleet, American plans to expand the Flagship Suite product on more flights to London Heathrow next year.
American will continue to offer the newly designed Boeing 787-9 next year on flights to LHR from Orlando and Philadelphia and will introduce service from Dallas Fort Worth in November.
The Flagship Suite seat provides customers with a private, premium travel experience, featuring privacy doors, wireless charging pads and a cosy, one-of-a-kind chaise lounge seating option.
Customers flying in American’s premium Flagship Suite cabin can relax comfortably with duvets, slippers and a dual-sided pillow with cool-touch fabric while refreshing themselves with luxury skin and beauty products in American’s thoughtfully designed amenity kits.
Inflight Flagship Suite service offers a multicourse chef-inspired meal paired with award-winning wines and delectable snacks sure to fulfil those mid-flight munchies.
In the coming months, American will offer customers the premium travel experience of the Boeing 787-9 on select flights from DFW to Auckland, Brisbane and Buenos Aires along with flights between Philadelphia and Zurich.
