At the AOA Annual Conference, Thursday 28 November, the winners of the 2019 AOA Annual Awards were announced.
Best Solution Provider: AiQ Consulting, who together with NATS provided an end-to-end capacity assessment from kerbside to airspace at Bristol Airport. It took a holistic, whole-journey approach which clearly helped the airport achieve its goals.
Best Innovator: AECOM for their Major Infrastructure-Resource Optimisation Group (MIROG), an innovative approach where the benefits to airports were clearly articulated.
Commended in this category was CHS Engineering Services for their remote wireless monitoring with Foundations Connect.
Best Environmental Initiative: London Gatwick Airport, for introducing a circular waste system at the airport, an exciting initiative with clear environmental benefits that was integrated into the airport’s overall long-term vision.
Commended in this category was London Luton Airport
AOA UK Airports Safety Week Initiative: London Luton Airport, for their safety which bus toured the whole campus throughout the week. This was an imaginative and uniquely engaging approach which provided a focal point for collaboration and the effort to build a safety culture throughout the week.
Commended in this category were Belfast City Airport and Edinburgh Airport, for their events that included excellent engagement with the airport community.
AOA UK Airports Safety Week Campaign: East Midlands Airport, for running an excellent overall campaign which engaged not only the full range of stakeholders on the campus but the wider community around the airport.
Commended in this category were Belfast City Airport and Edinburgh Airport for their vibrant series of events that included excellent engagement with other airports and the local community.
Best General Aviation Airport: Sywell Airport, for their dedication to providing a general aviation aerodrome that is of a high standard and well-liked by many GA pilots.
Best Airport (Under 3 million passengers): London Southend Airport
Best Airport (3-10 million passengers): Liverpool John Lennon Airport
Best Airport (Over 10 million passengers): Birmingham Airport
