Airlines across the Asia Pacific region continued to see growth in both passenger and cargo traffic in September 2025, according to preliminary figures released by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA).

Resilient regional economies, supported by an expected 4.5% GDP growth for the year, have helped sustain strong demand for air travel and freight services across the region.

Airlines carried a total of 30.9 million international passengers during the month, a 7.1% increase compared with September 2024.

Passenger demand, measured in revenue passenger kilometres (RPK), grew by 6.7%, matching capacity expansion and maintaining a high load factor of 80.7% — a sign of strong occupancy amid continuing aircraft supply chain challenges.

Commenting on the results, Mr. Subhas Menon, AAPA Director General, said: “Asia Pacific carriers posted a solid 10% increase in international passengers to a total of 289 million for the first nine months of the year.

“The outlook for both international air passenger and air cargo markets remains positive.

“Asia Pacific carriers are well-placed to respond to demand growth, while navigating multiple challenges including supply chain constraints as well as rising operational costs.”

For the first nine months of 2025, Asia Pacific airlines carried 289 million international passengers, up 10% year-on-year.
