This month is on course to be the busiest ever for available seats on flights from the UK to Europe, according to aviation analytics firm Cirium.

More than 11.8 million seats are scheduled on routes between the UK and European destinations in August 2025 – the highest monthly total since records began in 2004.

These flights will be operated across more than 65,000 departures from UK airports, fewer than in some previous years but boosted by the use of larger, higher-density aircraft.

Spain will see the largest share of capacity, with almost three million seats between the two countries – also a record.

August will likewise set new highs for UK services to Greece, with just over 1.04 million seats, and to Italy, with nearly 988,000.

The single busiest day is forecast to be 29 August, when over 2,166 departures to Europe will leave the UK, offering more than 392,000 seats.

Cirium’s data highlights the continuing demand for leisure and late-summer travel across Europe, despite wider economic headwinds.
