Avianca has announced the launch of a new seasonal route connecting San Salvador with the Chicago area from 3 June 2025.

The Colombian flag carrier will operate the service during the high season in summer on its Airbus A320 aircraft, each with a capacity of 180 passengers.

The route will operate three times weekly for direct journeys between Chicago O’Hare International Airport and El Salvador International Airport.

Rolando Damas, Avianca’s sales director for North America, Central America, Europe and the Caribbean, said: “We are excited to strengthen connectivity between Chicago and San Salvador, a vibrant destination rich in culture, history and natural beauty.

“This route will not only benefit Salvadorans travelling to the US but also open new opportunities for visitors from Chicago and beyond to explore everything El Salvador has to offer.”

The opening of this new service is in addition to Avianca’s existing operation connecting travellers between the US and El Salvador with 13 direct routes.

Through Avianca’s hub in El Salvador, passengers in the US can easily access other destinations in the Central American region such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panamá, Nicaragua and Honduras.
