Aviation Charity Receives First Donation from Bristol Airport

A charity set up to provide support to people in the aviation industry has received its first major donation from Bristol Airport. Aviation Action was formed in May and provides a range of support including well-being and mental health coaching, furlough and redundancy guidance, CV writing and help finding new employment opportunities inside and outside of the aviation industry.

This week Bristol Airport, who currently is the fifth largest airport outside London and with nearly 50 business partners on site confirmed its support of the charity by providing the first large corporate donation of £750.

Chris Wild, Chair of Aviation Action saidSince its launch, Aviation Action has already hosted a range of online events and supported hundreds of people globally. This generous donation will be put towards maintaining a calendar of online events in the future and will also help towards creating training and guidance for our ever-growing collection of peer supporters. We are delighted to have Bristol Airport on board at a time when the industry needed significant support, we felt personal and professional support was missing for our aviation colleagues. Aviation Action was set up to support the people involved in aviation; from flight deck to firefighters and caterers to cabin crew.”

Debbie Hartshorn, People Director, Bristol Airport saidWe are delighted to be the first large airport to support the newly formed Aviation Action charity. The aviation industry employs a wide range of highly skilled, motivated, committed and experienced people. The charity provides valuable peer support and guidance during these unprecedented times. We are supporting the charity in a variety of ways including colleagues being part of the peer support network and one of the team will sit on the Regional Board of the charity. An industry specific support network will play a vital role in helping individuals through the challenges they may be facing now or in the future.”

The charity has a team of regular and part-time volunteers committed to helping fellow members of the aviation industry. All the team either work or are linked to aviation and can therefore provide excellent support when and how it is needed by those needing help and guidance.
