Former Air Canada chief operating officer (COO) Benjamin Smith today took over as chief executive officer (CEO) of Air France-KLM as he looks to turn around the airline group’s fortunes.
Air France-KLM chairman of the board of directors, Anne-Marie Couderc, announced to the group’s staff on Friday (14 September) that Smith will take up his official duties on Monday 17 September.
The board had previously approved his appointment on 16 August, 2018.
Smith takes over executive management of the Air-France-KLM Group and will establish its organizational structure. He will be in charge as a priority to revitalise Air France, to give a new strategic impulse to the Group and to work on a new leadership approach with all Air France-KLM’s teams.
