Recent figures released by the police in the UK have demonstrated that thousands of British holiday makers were scammed out of millions last year through booking fraud schemes.

The City of London released data that stated 4,700 victims of the booking scams were reported – the total cost of cases reaching nearly 7 million GBP.

Most scams took place in the summer months or December as holiday makers prepared to spend their hard-earned money on trips away.

More than half of the victims had said that the scams affected their health and financial well-being.
