Latvian airline airBaltic in June 2019 transported 528,449 passengers or 24 per cent more than the same month last year – as greater capacity through the start of new routes boosted figures.

Last month, the carrier reached a 62 per cent market share in Riga and a 22 per cent market share in Tallinn. The airline’s load factor reached 83 per cent in June, the same as in June 2018.

In the first six months of the year, the carrier flew 2,229,285 million passengers, 19 per cent more than the same period last year. The load factor across the six months was 72 per cent, one percentage point less than the same six months last year.

airBaltic chief executive officer, Martin Gauss said: “For the first time in our history, we have served over 500,000 passengers in a single month. We have further improved our market share in Riga and Tallinn, achieving yet another record.

“Our results show that we are on the right path for growth and our team’s efforts and dedication to deliver great service to our customers is appreciated.”
