Cardiff Airport and Vueling are celebrating 10 years of flights from Wales this week.
The landmark occasion commemorating the long-term partnership between the airport and lowcost airline was celebrated with a specially-created doughnut wall for the passengers to enjoy from the very popular Welsh doughnut makers, Whocult.
Over the last 10 years, Vueling, which is part of the same company that owns British Airways, has carried over one million passengers on more than 8,000 flights through the airport.
In addition to its scheduled flights, the low-cost carrier has also operated ad-hoc charters for Six Nations, Rugby World Cup, Heineken Cup, Supercup and Champions League into Cardiff.
The airline started operations from Wales in 2012 and offers four destinations from Cardiff, Majorca, Malaga, Alicante and Paris Orly, with up to 14 flights per week to choose from this summer.
“Our 10-year relationship with Vueling continues to blossom,” said Spencer Birns, CEO at Cardiff Airport.
“Vueling has become a well-known airline in Wales over that time, offering consistently great value for money to our customers.
“Our strong partnership was evident last November when the airline agreed to pick up the vacant Paris route in the midst of the pandemic.
“This meant that French visitors could once again fly directly to Wales and ensure that customers living in Wales have a convenient, low-fare option for travelling to Paris, whether that is for business, visiting friends and relatives, city breaks or taking a family trip to Disneyland.
“We thank Vueling for their commitment to Wales and look forward to many more years of facilitating their flights through Cardiff Airport.”
