ANA Holdings (ANA HD) has changed the leadership of its fully-owned subsidiary low-cost carrier Vanilla Air effective 2 November this year – in preparation for the integration of its two LCCs Peach Aviation and Vanilla.
Vanilla will be run by Peach executives and the new leadership will comprise of representative director and president, Shinichi Inoue whose concurrent position is representative director and CEO of Peach and senior executive vice president, Takeaki Mori, whose concurrent position will be deputy CEO and COO of Peach.
ANA HD said it “positions the integrated group LCC company as an important pillar for greater profits and new opportunities for future expansion with the aim of becoming the leading LCC in Asia”.
The new integrated LCC will be capable of not only further promoting the Japan domestic services but also capturing the strong demand for visitors to Japan.
In the 2020 financial year, the airline plans to enter the mid-haul LCC market and beyond 2020, it envisions to have more than 50 aircraft operating on more than 50 routes, up from the 35 aircraft today and the 39 routes currently served.
ANA HD said Peach and Vanilla are currently in the process of integration which is scheduled to be completed in the 2019 financial year and it is planning to sell all of the shares of Vanilla, currently held by ANA HD, to Peach.
ANA HD added it intends to maximise profits by expanding the business area of the ANA Group as a whole while “respecting the uniqueness of management for the LCC business as before”.
