Connect Airways appoints new Flybe COO

Connect Airways has appointed Chris Hope as Flybe’s new chief operations officer with effect from 4 November 2019.

Reporting directly to Connect Airways’ CEO Mark Anderson, he will take responsibility for Flybe’s ground and air operations and customer service.

With over 30 years of aviation experience, Hope has held a number of senior positions at easyJet including director of flight operations, head of operations strategy and change, and head of easyJet’s main base at Gatwick. He is also a qualified Captain, most recently flying the Airbus A320.

Hope said: “Flybe provides a vital service that ensures quick and affordable connectivity across the UK’s regions and beyond.

“I am delighted to join the team as it embarks on this exciting new journey and look forward to playing a key role in ensuring that the airline delivers on its considerable potential.”

Connect Airways is owned 30 per cent by Stobart Aviation Limited, 30 per cent by the Virgin Travel Group Limited, the holding company of Virgin Atlantic Airways and 40 per cent by DLP Holdings, a Luxembourg company wholly-owned by funds managed by Cyrus Capital Partners.

Flybe operates a fleet of 76 aircraft: 54 Bombardier Q400, six Embraer E195, 11 E175 and five ATR 72s, on 189 routes serving 12 countries from 71 departure points in the UK and Europe.
