French industrial group Daher has been awarded two new logistics contracts by Safran, expanding its role across both production and aftermarket aviation services in Europe.

The agreements cover warehouse management operations in Hamburg, Germany, for Safran Nacelles, and the creation of a dedicated logistics platform in the Île-de-France region for Safran Electronics & Defense.

Operations for both projects are due to begin in April 2026.

Hamburg operations support Airbus A320neo assembly

In Hamburg, Daher will manage logistics linked to the integration of engines and nacelles for the Airbus A320neo final assembly line.

A team of around 20 staff will oversee on-site services including receiving, storage, parts preparation, handling and shipping.

The contract strengthens Daher’s footprint in Germany, where it already employs around 1,100 logistics staff supporting programmes such as Airbus Defence & Space in Bremen and rail manufacturer Alstom.

New Île-de-France hub targets MRO and AOG demand

In France, Daher will establish a 3,000 sq m logistics platform in Tremblay-en-France to support maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and aircraft-on-ground (AOG) activities.

The site’s proximity to Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was a key factor in securing the contract, given the need for rapid response to grounded aircraft incidents.

The facility is expected to handle more than 3,000 outbound shipments, 1,700 inbound deliveries and 7,500 picking lines each year. It will also include an on-call AOG service with a maximum response time of 3.5 hours, supported by Daher’s warehouse management system to ensure real-time tracking and operational control.

The contract runs for three years, with an option to extend for a further two.

Expansion builds on long-term Safran partnership

The new agreements build on Daher’s longstanding relationship with Safran Helicopter Engines, where more than 150 Daher employees support operations across sites in Bordes, Tarnos and Buchelay.

Daher and Safran are also collaborating on automation initiatives, including the deployment of automated guided vehicles, advanced storage systems and digital control technologies.

Aymeric Daher, deputy chief executive of Daher and head of its logistics division, said the contracts marked a significant step in the partnership.

“We have been working together for many years with Safran Helicopter Engines, and these new projects… mark an important milestone,” he said.

“With the global fleet continuing to grow, demand for spare parts logistics is increasing, and we are now involved in both industrial operations and aftermarket flows in France and Germany.”

The aviation MRO market is currently valued at more than $90bn (£71bn) and is expected to exceed $150bn by 2035, driven by rising global aircraft numbers and demand for maintenance services.
