Delta Air Lines will debut year-round route linking Silicon Valley and the Motor City on 15 November – providing the only non-stop service between Detroit Wayne County Metropolitan Airport and Mineta San Jose International Airport.
This service will operate on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. With more than 400 daily departures, Detroit is the primary connecting hub for San Jose customers to the US Northeast and Europe.
Delta’s senior vice president for network planning, Joe Esposito said it connects the largest unserved markets from both Detroit and San Jose.
Mineta San Jose International Airport assistance director of aviation, Judy Ross said: “We’re delighted that Delta is growing rapidly in San Jose, and coming close on the heels of the airline’s recent expansion to New York’s JFK.”
Delta continues to invest in San Jose, increasing available seats by more than 130 per cent since 2013 including new services to Seattle, Las Vegas, New York-JFK and now Detroit.
