A British Airways pilot who arrived to work at London Gatwick Airport after drinking multiple vodkas has been sentenced to jail time.
Julian Monaghan boarded the BA flight bound for the Mauritius earlier this year but was led away in handcuffs by police after colleagues smelled alcohol.
The pilot had 86mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood in his system, the BBC reported. The legal limit for a pilot is 20mg.
The pilot was sentenced to 8 months at Lewes Crown Court.
BA stated that it is not what it expects from its highly professional fleet of pilots. The pilot has since regretted his decision to consume alcohol.
