Ethiopian Airlines 737-800 overuns on runway in Uganda

An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 escaped damage after overrunning the runway at Entebbe Airport in Uganda yesterday (3 January).

The aircraft (ET-ATV) landed on runway 17, which is almost 12,000ft in length, at around 00:40h (local time).

Ethiopian said the 737 “skidded off the runway by a few metres” and passengers and crew were “safely deplaned” while reporting there is no damage to the aircraft.

Flights were affected and there was temporary suspension of operations by airlines included services by Turkish Airlines, EgyptAir, Kenya Airways and RwandAir.
