A family is suing Alaska Airlines as an elderly lady recently fell down an escalator from her wheelchair and died as a result of her injuries.
The incidence, which happened at Portland International airport, involved the lady, who was supposed to be assisted in between flights, falling down an escalator in a wheelchair.
A surveillance video demonstrated that the woman was left to navigate the airport alone.
The elderly lady had to have her eight leg amputated below the knee as a result and died the day after the surgery.
Alaska Airlines were due to arrange and perform the duties of assisting the passengers, which the family has said it failed to do.
The airline has stated that it is believed the lady refused the service, although the family lawyer counteracted that the airline had a legal pbligatioj to perform it.
