FL Technics Engine Services, a subsidiary of global aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services provider FL Technics Group, has expanded its engine shop in Kaunas, Lithuania, from five to eight fully equipped bays.

As demand for engine maintenance continues to grow globally, this 60% capacity increase will enhance the company’s ability to provide timely and efficient engine services.

The Kaunas shop is certified exclusively for the CFM56 engine family – the most widely used engine type in commercial aviation. Currently, around 70% of the shop‘s work focuses on CFM56-7B engines and the remaining share is spent working CFM56-5B and CFM56-3 engines.

Valerij Deveikis, CEO at FL Technics Engine Services says: “The market is facing ongoing challenges with new-generation engines – from technical issues to persistent parts shortages.

“As a result, airlines are extending the life of their existing fleets, and the demand for CFM56 maintenance has significantly increased.

“This translates directly into more work for shops like ours worldwide. Over the past few years, the number of shop visits has been steadily rising, and during peak periods, capacity became a challenge.”

To stay ahead and maintain flexibility, FL Technics Engine Services decided to expand its Kaunas facility, which is now capable of servicing eight engines simultaneously.

This allows the company to offer more immediate repair slots, optimise turnaround times, and continue delivering the responsive, high-quality service.

“Despite elevated demand, our goal remains unchanged – to deliver reliable, efficient, and timely maintenance solutions to every customer,” highlights Deveikis.

“Previously, when all five bays were occupied, it limited our flexibility to accept quick-turn repairs or handle larger scope projects. With eight bays, we can take on more complex repairs and still remain responsive to urgent AOG situations.”

The expansion project involves not only increasing the shop’s physical space but also growing its team.

With more bays and higher engine flow, FL Technics Engine Services is bringing in experienced professionals as well as encouraging young talents from Lithuanian universities and aviation schools to develop their skills in aviation maintenance.
