FlightAware, a global provider of flight information and insights, and FlightPath3D, the leading inflight map solution, will deliver real-time aircraft and flight status data via new FlightPath3D map applications for flying passengers.

These new applications will expand FlightPath3D’s suite of both inflight and on the ground map products.

While still in development, the applications will enhance passenger journeys with comprehensive flight tracking that provides situational awareness before take-off and after landing.

Using FlightAware’s enterprise-grade data feed, FlightPath3D will be able to merge surface and airborne data within a single cloud-based data stream that integrates into the aircraft seatback in real-time.

Duncan Jackson, FlightPath3D president, says: “Our work with FlightAware offers insights and new applications that were not available before, enhancing the entire travel experience from airport to inflight.

“Passengers will benefit from richer real-time updates, immersive maps, and a more seamless journey from start to finish.”

Matt Davis, president and general manager at FlightAware says: “FlightAware’s aircraft position and flight status data will be used to keep passengers more informed during their travel journey.

“Working with FlightPath3D and their leading 3D flight tracker, augmented reality, and destination guides, we look forward to enhancing the passenger experience for their airline and airport customers.”

FlightPath3D expects to announce more details about how they’re incorporating FlightAware’s data into new applications before the end of the year.
