The French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire yesterday revealed that the government was closely monitoring Air France KLM, which has been hit hard by the coronavirus.
“There are possibilities other than a nationalisation in order to support Air France KLM,” Le Maire said.
“Nationalisation is obviously a last resort, but it is something that we do not exclude. We are not going to let our industrial champions that we have invested billions in go up in smoke because of an economic crisis of a violence unseen since 1929,” Le Maire told France Info radio.
Le Maire added that France’s economic contraction would be much worse than the -1% that had been expected earlier this month.
