Airline on-time performance (OTP) fell in March 2026, according to the latest Cirium industry report, highlighting ongoing operational pressures across global aviation.

The data shows a decline in punctuality compared with previous months, as airlines and airports continue to contend with capacity constraints, air traffic management challenges and seasonal disruptions.

Despite the dip, several carriers and airports maintained relatively strong performance, underlining significant regional variation in operational efficiency.

Analysts noted that while some networks proved resilient, others were more exposed to delays linked to congestion and external factors.

The report also pointed to persistent structural issues affecting global aviation, including staffing shortages, infrastructure limitations and fluctuating demand patterns.

These factors continue to test the industry’s ability to deliver consistent, on-time services.

March’s performance reflects a broader trend of volatility in airline operations, with punctuality levels yet to stabilise fully following recent years of disruption.

Looking ahead, industry observers expect airlines to focus on schedule reliability and operational resilience as peak summer travel approaches, with improving OTP seen as critical to both customer satisfaction and network efficiency.
