The managing director of Aviance Ghana has said the ground handling industry is “booming” post-Covid.
At the ground handling company’s 30th anniversary celebrations in Accra yesterday (Monday 2 December), Mark Kamis said Aviance Ghana’s growth was evidence of the industry’s recovery from the pandemic.
“The ground handling business in Ghana actually is booming now after Covid, and you can see new airlines coming into Accra and also other airlines trying to join,” Kamis said.
He cited Virgin Atlantic’s planned entry into Ghana in 2025 as evidence of an expanding aviation sector.
The managing director said: “For any institution to last 30 years is a milestone.
“I’m very confident that Aviance will survive any price war, any competitive market, and I will imagine Aviance as the Ghanian ground handling company will be here for another 30 years.”
Kamis added that the ground handler is investing in innovation and infrastructure as part of its strategy to stay competitive.
“We’re moving towards more AI infrastructure, which is really important,” he said.
“Our employee base is over 1,000, and we continue to provide training aligned with IATA standards.”
Kamis also revealed that Aviance is now operational at Kumasi and Tamale airports, serving both domestic and international flights.
He said that Kumasi is a “strategic part of our plan”, adding that “it has done very well for us”.
“We’ve engaged airlines like Ethiopian Airlines and Africa World Airlines.”
The company’s 30th anniversary was marked by the unveiling of a new logo.
