Hungary’s government has asked economy minister Marton Nagy to hold talks about the acquisition of Budapest Airport, Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s chief of staff said on Thursday.
Since Orban took power in 2010, his government has boosted Hungarian ownership in energy, banking, telecoms and the media, and has been planning to buy the airport for years.
In 2021 the government submitted a non-binding offer to buy the airport but later shelved the whole process. (Reporting by Krisztina Than, Editing by Alan Charlish)
