IAG, Air Europa Merger Gets Clearance From UK Antitrust Regulator

By Ian Walker, marketwatch

The U.K. Competition and Markets Authority said Wednesday that International Consolidated Airlines Group SA’s planned acquisition of Air Europa doesn’t qualify for investigation under the Enterprise Act 2002.

IAG, which owns British Airways and Iberia, terminated its deal to buy the Spanish airline last month from its owner conglomerate Globalia Corporacion Empresarial SA, citing market conditions.

IAG said on Dec. 16 that the companies had agreed to look at alternative structures that may be of interest to both parties before the end of January.
