Play Airlines, the Icelandic low-cost carrier, has ceased operations, forcing the cancellation of all flights to and from the UK.
The airline, which held licences to operate services from London Stansted and Liverpool airports, confirmed that no further flights would run.
The UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has urged passengers not to travel to airports, as scheduled flights will no longer operate.
Customers are instead being advised to arrange their own alternative travel.
Andrew McConnell, a spokesperson for the CAA, said: “It’s always unfortunate when an airline ceases operations, and we understand that Play Airlines’ decision will be unsettling for its employees and customers.
“UK customers seeking the latest information are advised to visit the Civil Aviation Authority’s website.”
The carrier’s collapse marks the latest in a series of setbacks for low-cost transatlantic airlines, which have struggled in recent years to maintain financial stability amid volatile demand and high operating costs.
