iGA Istanbul Airport, a world-leading global transit hub, has today welcomed Air Transat’s new non-stop flight from Toronto.

The inaugural flight in collaboration with the Canadian airline makes Air Transat the 9th new airline to join İGA’s growing network in 2025, with the total of scheduled passenger airlines now operating from iGA Istanbul Airport at 116.

At a special event to mark the occasion, attended by executives from Air Transat and Server Aydın, iGA Istanbul Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer said: “This is another key milestone in our exciting journey to both enhance and maintain our position as a world-leading global aviation and transit hub.

“Air Transat’s arrival into Istanbul today further strengthens our global connectivity and strategic connections with the Americas.

“The new route will enhance prospects for both tourism and trade between Türkiye and Canada, whilst reinforcing Istanbul’s growing role in the international aviation ecosystem.

“We’re delighted to welcome Air Transat to our network and believe that together we will create exciting new opportunities for exchange and growth between North America, Europe and the Middle East.”

Sebastian Ponce, Air Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer said: “The Toronto–Istanbul route clearly expresses our strategy: optimise with a year-round service that reduces seasonality and maximises fleet utilisation, drive profitable growth through our partnership with Turkish Airlines that mitigates investment risk, and diversify by serving travellers visiting friends and relatives and by opening access to markets beyond Istanbul.”

Air Transat, voted the 2025 World’s Best Leisure Airline by Skytrax, is operating its year-round Istanbul route with the Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Flights from Toronto to Istanbul will operate on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and an additional Thursday flight from May 2026, with flights from Istanbul to Toronto on Wednesdays, Sundays, and an additional Friday flight from May 2026.
