iPort, a leading provider of airport operational solutions, announces the integration of Play airlines into its network.

Since April, Play airlines passengers have been seamlessly checked in through iPort DCS (Departure Control System), marking an important passage in streamlining airport operations.

Operating as a hub through-check operation, the integration of Play airlines required a thoroughly coordinated effort, culminating in a successful big-bang go-live.

This entailed activating Play airlines’ full network across 20+ airports simultaneously, spanning stations in the USA, Canada, and Europe, with the central hub of operations located in KEF, Iceland.

The project, from inception to completion, was executed within an impressive 16-week timeline. This encompassed a multitude of tasks, including:
iSales integration and related PSP validations
ICI (Internet check-in) implementation with iSales
Certification and deployment of kiosks
Establishment of Bagdrop services with multiple providers
Setup and certification of USA/Canada security messaging and interactive security functionality, in collaboration with a third-party reservation system provider

Hans van Engelen, CEO at iPort said: “Play airlines’ integration into the iPort community represents a major achievement for both parties.

“Our teams have worked diligently to ensure a smooth transition, and we are pleased to enhance the passenger experience through our innovative solutions.”

Guðbergur Ólafsson, director of ground operations at Play airlines, added: “We’re glad to partner with iPort to increase operational efficiency, compliant with government regulations regarding passenger data delivery.

“This will contribute to the smooth check-in experience with Play airlines, creating the pleasant journey our customers signed up for.”
