Fast-growing Antalya Airport completed expansion work on its domestic and international terminals in April, lifting annual passenger capacity to 65 million.
Antalya Airport, which increased passenger numbers last year by 6.5% to reach 38 million, has enjoyed sharp growth in traffic since the pandemic amid strong demand for tourism in Turkey. That growth has in part been driven by a major push to develop year-round tourism across the country and the Turkish Riviera in particular.

Antalya Airport is operated under a long-term term concession by Frankfurt Airport owner Fraport and Turkish airports company TAV Airports. Under the first phase expansion, an €850 million (US$964 million) investment completed within three years, Antalya almost doubled the size of its domestic and international terminals. It also built additional apron facilities such as taxiways and a new parking facility.

TAV Airports Chief Executive Serkan Kaptan said: “This investment will significantly elevate the passenger experience and provide the capacity for further traffic growth. It’s a strategic investment which lays the ground for airlines to base more aircraft in Antalya.”

Fraport Chief Executive Stefan Schulte said: “The new infrastructure enables us to meet the rapidly increasing demand for air travel to the Turkish Riviera.”
A second phase expansion, set to begin in 2038 and involving a new international terminal, will raise Antalya Airport’s passenger capacity to 80 million.
