Miami-Dade County and ITA Airways officials hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Miami International Airport on March 1 to celebrate the launch of Rome-Miami service by the new national airline of Italy.
ITA Airways is beginning the new service with three weekly roundtrip flights, which will grow to five weekly flights in April and then increase to daily flights in June.
Italy was one of MIA’s top 20 international markets before the pandemic, generating nearly 400,000 total passengers in 2019.
Italy is not currently served by any other airline at MIA.
