ITA Airways is expanding operations at London City Airport (LCY) by launching a twice daily service to Rome–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in March 2024.
The Italian flag carrier will be the first airline to operate the route from LCY since the pandemic halted operations in 2020.
Rome, the capital of Italy, is a popular destination for leisure passengers with cultural and historical attractions including the Colosseum, Pantheon, St Peters Square and the Vatican.
Passengers will benefit from the unrivalled proximity of both hubs by flying to-and-from London’s and Rome’s most centrally located airports. In addition, travellers can enjoy seamless connecting flights from ITA’s main hub at FCO to exciting destinations including Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Buenos Aires.
Rome will further expand London City’s connectivity to Europe and around the globe, building on existing services via Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Zurich.
Anne Doyere, Aviation Director, London City Airport, said: “We’re delighted to strengthen our partnership with ITA Airways and bring back another key route into our network as we continue to recover and grow.
“Rome will open up a huge range of new travel options for those on connecting flights, so we look forward to welcoming many new passengers to London City”.
