KLM has been awarded the APEX Diamond Award Health Safety. This award is the highest possible level of certification for airlines in the area of health and safety.

KLM is the second European airline to receive this Diamond certification, after Virgin Atlantic.

APEX Health Safety (the Airline Passengers Experience Association) aims to encourage airlines to take on a proactive role in the safe resumption of global travel and to create a common standard for passenger health and hygiene during travel.

“It is a commendable achievement that will be recognised by your customers and that will position you as a leader in health and hygiene,” the APEX report states.

Singapore Airlines and Qatar Airways, among others, have since won this award.

“We have made the health and hygiene of our customers, employees and society as a whole our number 1 priority in these times,” Boet Kreiken, Executive Vice President Customer Experience KLM.

“Achieving the highest possible level of APEX certification means that KLM is one of the leading airlines in the field of hygiene and health safety. People choose to travel with us, because we fly responsibly.

“That is why we have analysed our entire customer journey this year and set the highest possible standard to ensure optimal health and hygiene for our customers, before, during and after their journey.

“This highest APEX status is an important guarantee for travellers that they are flying safely with KLM at the highest possible level worldwide.”
