Korean Air was awarded the Friendship Medal by the Government of Mongolia in recognition of the airline’s social contributions in Mongolia.

Awarded by the President of Mongolia, the Friendship Medal is one of the highest honors awarded by the Mongolian government to foreign individuals and organizations that have fostered strong bilateral relations.

The award ceremony took place on May 29 at the Government Palace in Ulaanbaatar.

Attendees included Yohan Park, Vice President and Head of China Regional Headquarters, Korean Air; Ho Young Seo, Vice President and Head of Human Resources Strategy, Korean Air; Odbayar Erdenetsogt, Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of Mongolia; and Batkhuu Nyam-Osor, Environment and Green Development Advisor to the President of Mongolia.

Over the past two decades, Korean Air has dedicated its resources to the afforestation efforts in the Baganuur District to create the Korean Air Forest.

The forest now serves as a barrier to block dust and debris from nearby coal mines and combats desertification.

In addition, Korean Air has equipped seven local schools with computer classrooms and has provided communities with volunteer medical services in cooperation with Inha University Hospital.
