Laudamotion – the new name for bankrupt airberlin subsidiary NIKI – is set to launch on 25 March, according to a report on the online edition of Air Transport World.

Owner Niki Lauda, is quoted by the publication and said the company is working intensively for the launch later this month and the network, fleet and other aspects of the carrier will be revealed next week.

Lauda was the founder of Austrian carrier NIKI and took ownership again in January after NIKI ended operations on 13 December last year, and immediately rebranded it to Laudamotion.

After airberlin dissolved, Lufthansa secured aircraft from leasing companies, and agreed to transfer aircraft to Laudamotion if it was unable to purchase NIKI.
