London Southend Airport celebrated its inaugural easyJet flights to Amsterdam this week on Wednesday, May 24, as well as a restart of flights to Faro.
Flights to the Netherlands and Portugal complete the full summer schedule of routes from London Southend – Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, two popular Spanish destinations, have been in operation since March.
easyJet passengers chose the perfect day to #FlyLondonSouthend as the award-winning airport celebrated the Faro restart and first Amsterdam flight with a performance from The Music Man Project, a music education charity for people with learning disabilities, at check-in as well as a live DJ set in Departures.
Airport colleagues were distributing tulip cupcakes and gouda cheese and chutney in a synonymous nod to the Netherlands as passengers were invited to pose for a photo in the airport’s dedicated selfie corner, The Snug.
Meanwhile, a Facebook livestream hosted by SDTV Spotter Dedicated TV was broadcast from the Air Traffic Control Tower.
Flights to Amsterdam will operate up to four times a week throughout summer – departing Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays – and with an extra flight to Faro added to the schedule, easyJet’s operations at London Southend has now increased by 30% compared to Summer 2022 with up to 18 flights per week.
Passengers in the east of London and southeast England can use the route to Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to connect to more than 300 destinations, and with return flights in June costing less than £70, it’s the perfect opportunity for a short city break, business trip or steppingstone to the rest of the world.

“Passengers can now make global connections from Amsterdam Schiphol Airport to destinations across the world.
“Lots of people will see the benefit of a hassle-free route through London Southend to Amsterdam with our queue free security and quick, easy access direct from London Liverpool Street at only 53 minutes by train or from Stratford, London’s busiest station, in only 43 minutes to our dedicated onsite train station, just 100 paces from the terminal.
“The restart to Faro and an additional flight per week demonstrates the popularity of the Portuguese summer favourite in the Algarve.”
