Menzies Aviation will now serve 300 airports globally after obtaining a ground handling license to operate at Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia.

Last month, the ground services provider announced that operations will commence at the airport from January 2024.

The addition of Kuala Lumpur means that Menzies now operates at 300 stations around the world. In 2019, Menzies served 170 locations.

In a LinkedIn post today (9 December), Menzies CEO Philipp Joeinig said: “From our humble beginnings in 1833, Menzies Aviation has come a long way, and we are proud to announce we’ve reached 300 airports globally.

“This milestone isn’t just a number. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of everyone who has been part of the Menzies journey.

“Throughout our history, we’ve been committed to excellence, delivering industry leading aviation services to our airport partners and airline customers.”

He added that “we’re incredibly grateful for the trust and support” of its customers, partners and colleagues. “Thank you for being part of our legacy,” Joeinig said.

“We are immensely proud of this 300-station milestone as we welcome Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Malaysia to our network and look forward to continuing this growth to all-new locations across the globe.”

Earlier this year, Joeinig exclusively revealed to ARGS that Menzies is looking to expand to around 350 airports globally by the end of next year.

He said the company’s 2025 expansion strategy is to seek growth in “emerging markets” – which includes Southeast Asia, South America, the Middle East, Africa and Eastern and Southern Europe.

Joeinig told ARGS: “There are a lot more opportunities for growth out there – and if we can’t penetrate the market through organic growth, we will seek new opportunities through acquisitions.”

The CEO said that the ground services provider has projects in the pipeline that “give us the confidence to achieve our 2025 target”.
