Menzies Aviation yesterday unveiled a brand new “sustainable” front-of-house uniform to be rolled out at its stations worldwide.
Introducing the new attire at a launch event, held on Tuesday at Heathrow Airport, Miguel Gomez, executive vice president for Europe, told guests: “Our Heathrow team has been instrumental in developing this lovely uniform.
“It is modern, stylish, inclusive and most importantly super comfortable. It is also ethically and sustainably produced.”
“I’ve been at Menzies for 16 years, and this is the biggest material change in the uniform I’ve seen in that time.”
He added that the new look was inspired by staff feedback.
The launch comes after Menzies hinted in January that a new uniform would be unveiled later this year.
In a note to employees the company promised a rebrand that would offer “function and fit” and that it would be made from recycled fabrics.
Speaking with ARGS at the launch party, CEO Philipp Joeinig said: “We started this project two years ago as we decided, coming out of the pandemic, that we wanted a fresh look.
“This is the perfect time to release the new uniform as the aviation industry recovers from Covid and looks forward to exciting times ahead with an all-time high for passenger numbers and flights.
“It is very important that our uniforms are produced in a sustainable manner – that means being made in a way that is carbon neutral and by companies that are signed up to the United Nations charter that ratifies sustainable suppliers.”
Menzies said it worked with its logistics chain to ensure the uniform is also packed and transported in a sustainable way.
The company has hinted at the launch of a new uniform for ground agents in 2025.
