Milan Bergamo airport celebrates anniversary with Ukraine International Airlines

Joining Milan Bergamo Airport’s airline roll call last April, Ukraine International Airlines
launched its third service almost a year to the day since its inaugural flight to the Italian
gateway. Adding a twice-weekly link to Kharkiv on 27 April, the Ukrainian flag carrier’s
latest operation was welcomed the same day the airline’s seasonal service to Chernivtsi
restarted.

As Milan Bergamo celebrates its fifth link to Ukraine, the airport has experienced a
significant boost of onward connections via the airlines’ hub at Kiev Boryspil.

Providing Bergamo’s catchment area with access to the airline’s domestic network, as well as
significant long-haul connectivity, the first 12 months has shown the top 10 connecting
destinations being: Beijing; Odessa; Minsk; Chernivtsi; Kharkiv; Lviv; Tel Aviv; New York
JFK; Zaporozhye; and Ivano-Frankovsk. Additionally the top 10 connecting countries
recorded as: Ukraine; China; Belarus; Israel; US; Georgia; Cyprus; Armenia; Finland; and
Sri Lanka.

“Ukraine International Airlines’ first year with us has been a great success with our new
airline partner carrying more than 90,000 passengers in its first 12 months at Milan
Bergamo,” explained Giacomo Cattaneo, Director of Commercial Aviation, SACBO.

“Together with the airline’s new link to Kharkiv we welcome the news of the
intercontinental routes being launched this summer to Delhi and Toronto – both of which
we expect will deliver substantial growth in connecting traffic via Kiev Boryspil,”
highlighted Cattaneo.

Joining Ernest’s services to Lviv and Kiev Zhulyany, Ukraine International Airlines’ three
links to Ukraine secure the country’s position as the 11th largest country market to be
served from Milan Bergamo.

Recording over 6% passenger traffic growth in the first quarter
of the year, the new connection to the Eastern European nation will further enhance the
airport’s ongoing development.
