The operator of Munich Airport has reported a strong increase in profits for 2025, driven by rising passenger numbers and flight activity.

Munich Airport Group said net profit after tax reached €169m, up by €105m compared with the previous year. Revenue also climbed to a record level of nearly €1.8bn.

Operating profit before interest and tax rose to €219m, compared with €195m in 2024.

Passenger growth drives performance

The company attributed the improved results to continued recovery in air travel demand.

A total of 43.4 million passengers passed through the airport in 2025, an increase of 1.8 million on the previous year, equivalent to a growth of 4.4%.

Aircraft movements also rose, with more than 337,000 take-offs and landings recorded, up 3.1% year-on-year.

European and long-haul routes were the main contributors to growth. Traffic to destinations across Europe and the Mediterranean increased by around 4%, while intercontinental travel saw stronger gains of about 9%.

Expanding global network

Munich Airport further expanded its route network during the year, offering connections to 232 destinations worldwide.

A total of 96 airlines now operate at the airport, including five dedicated cargo carriers.

Cargo demand rebounds

The airport also reported continued growth in freight operations, with air cargo volumes rising by 10% to around 340,000 tonnes.

This marks a return to above pre-pandemic levels, with volumes now approximately 2% higher than before the global aviation downturn.

Airport officials said the results reflect sustained demand for both passenger travel and air freight, reinforcing Munich’s role as a key European aviation hub.
