Albania has launched a new national carrier Air Albania after being without one for seven years.
According to a report on Air Transport World the new airline will start operations with a single Airbus A319, but has plans to acquire two A320s in the future and its livery has the national flag colur of red with a tail logo referencing feathers from the wings of the black eagle.
Former national carrier, Albanian Airlines, ceased operating in 2011 and the privately owned Belle Air closed down a few years later.
ATN said that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama had garnered help from Turkey to set up Air Albania and the initial flight was on 14 September from Tirana to Istanbul.
The project is reportedly part of a vision by Rama and more details can be found here on his Facebook page.
