The Airport Operators Association (AOA) and ITN Productions Industry News have co-produced Airport Matters, an industry film that draws attention to the future of aviation and the opportunities and challenges facing the industry.

With the Government developing its Aviation Strategy to help the aviation industry meet the demands of ever-increasing passenger numbers, news-style programme Airport Matters takes a deep-dive into the future of UK airports.

Presented by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, OBE, the programme highlights the innovation and investment in UK airports and explores the key opportunities and challenges surrounding the industry including emerging technologies, engineering solutions, airspace modernisation, sustainability, air connectivity, passenger experience, security and the commercial opportunities that enhanced travel brings. The programme also features a special report from Glasgow Airport on the impact of disruptive behaviour on airlines and passenger journeys and the work being done to prevent the disruption.

Chief Executive of the Airport Operators Association Karen Dee said, “Our Annual Conference takes place in the middle of a general election and will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss how industry and the next Government can work together. Airport Matters shines an important light on all the exciting innovation and future opportunities that will help the aviation industry realise the national and global opportunities that the new Government will want to deliver on.

Head of Industry News, ITN Productions Vicki Clubley said, “We’re delighted to be working in partnership with the AOA to highlight the importance of the industry throughout Brexit and beyond and to showcase how the UK benefits from future aviation opportunities.

The programme will premiere at the AOA Annual Conference in London on 28 November 2019 and combines key industry interviews, reports and partner sponsored editorial profiles from the following organisations and forms part of an extensive communications campaign featuring AOA members, industry partners, government partners, as well as journalists and writers:

  • ICTS Europe
  • Menzies Aviation
  • Skynet Worldwide Express
