New terminal to offer smoother experience for passengers with reduced mobility

Bahrain International Airport’s (BIA) new Passenger Terminal Building will deliver a more comfortable and convenient travel experience for Passengers with Reduced Mobility, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), announced as it marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The new terminal will feature dedicated PRM facilities and services to ensure greater accessibility and comfort, supporting BAC’s objective of operating a friendly and efficient airport.

BAC Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, said: “BIA caters to diverse passengers’ needs and expectations, and we consider it our responsibility to ensure that all of them enjoy a hassle-free travel experience and the same high levels of service. We understand that travelling can sometimes be challenging for passengers with reduced mobility and have carefully considered their needs in the design of the new terminal. With a wider range of dedicated facilities and services, we are confident that PRM travellers will have a far more comfortable journey.”

Travellers at the new terminal can expect PRM-friendly check-in counters and information desks, dedicated e-Gates in the Arrivals and Departures Areas, private toilets, and a dedicated lower counter at immigration control. PRM travellers can also easily collect their luggage at the baggage reclaim carousels, which have dedicated access spots.

To ensure travellers enjoy a seamless travel experience from the moment that they arrive, there are dedicated curbside parking spaces at the entrance of the Arrivals Area and spaces per level in the Multi-storey car park. PRM parking spaces are also available at the curbside entrance of the Departures Area.
