Norwegian Air and regional carrier Widerøe carried a combined total of 1.75 million passengers in December 2025, rounding off a strong year for the airline group.

Norwegian carried 1.45 million passengers during the month, while Widerøe transported 304,000. For the full year, the two airlines carried a combined 27.3 million passengers.

Norwegian chief executive Geir Karlsen said the figures reflected growing demand across both airlines’ route networks.

He said passenger numbers increased significantly during 2025, highlighting the appeal of expanded services.

Norwegian’s capacity in December, measured in available seat kilometres, fell by 5% compared with the same month in 2024.

Passenger demand declined by 2%, while the load factor rose to 84.8%, up 2.7 percentage points year on year. The airline operated an average of 74 aircraft during the month.

Despite challenging winter weather and heavy Christmas travel, both airlines reported strong operational performance.

Norwegian operated 99.6% of its scheduled flights, while Widerøe achieved a regularity rate of 95.7%. Punctuality also improved, with 82% of Norwegian flights and 84.1% of Widerøe flights departing within 15 minutes of schedule.

Mr Karlsen said bookings remained strong following the launch of the airline’s New Year sales campaign, which will run through January.

He added that the group was also preparing for its largest summer schedule in several years.

Widerøe increased capacity by 6% in December compared with a year earlier. Passenger traffic reached 108 million seat kilometres, while the load factor stood at 67.2%, down 6.1 percentage points year on year. The airline set a new annual passenger record in 2025, carrying 4.13 million passengers.
